Zenphoto Media RSS Feed Generator

Introduction

Zenphoto is the awesome gallery system I use for this very sites galleries. With the introduction of the also awesome PicLens viewer I thought I should add Media RSS support to Zen Photo so that people could see a nice 3D wall of my gallery.

Having googled around, I found someone had already done one. Unfortunately it wasn’t very good and had lots of minor and some major issues with it. So I decided to write my own. It’s PHP5 only I’m afraid, but as PHP 4 is end of life, and PHP 5 has been out for nearly 4 years now. There’s really no excuse to not be running it. If your host wont upgrade, find a better one.

Obeys thumbnail and image size settings within Zenphoto
Works with mod_rewrite turned off
Displays more suitable descriptions and titles where possible

How to install

Installing is really easy, just extract the archive and place rss.php over the existing rss.php in your zenphoto directory. That’s it! You may, however, wish to increase the feed_items option within the Zenphoto gallery options in the admin panel, as the default setting of 10 means people will see a very small wall.
