Facebook App Spam Remover

13/11/2007

Update: Version 1.04 released 18th November 2007

About

Recently Facebook has started adding notifications about your friends using applications to your news feed. This can clutter it up with 500 people biting each others with the Vampire application, or dozens of notices about people taking some random quiz. To make matters worse, these notifications take up a fair bit of space, with a big picture next to each entry.

The script also has the ability to hide application invite requests from the side-bar, so that people who insist upon inviting you to add every single application won’t fill up your right hand menu with requests.

This simple Greasemonkey script transparently removes these notifications from your news feed, as well as the sponsored news feed entry adverts. You need either Mozilla Firefox with the Greasemonkey extension or Opera to use it.
