Someone Please Explain…

29/04/2008

How it is possible to find someone guilty of first degree murder, when there is no body / evidence that the "victim" in question is dead?

I couldn’t say whether he did it or not, but it seems that the whole thing has been based on circumstance.

How Not to Park Your Car

28/04/2008

Some people really just don’t think things through. This man in the blue t-shirt is just arriving back at his car after leaving it abandoned like that on the wrong side of the road and on a zebra crossing, while he popped into the off-licence to buy some milk. Very weird, the traffic was backed up a fair way because of it and a few people had got out of their cars to see what was going on.

Alas from our vantage point I couldn’t hear what they said to him when he got back, but I would assume it was something along the lines of, “What the bloody hell do you think you’re doing?”

Challenge

28/04/2008

The challenge is simple, with one continuous line and without stopping, cross each line with an X in it only once, without crossing a line already drawn.

I’ve been playing around with this on and off and it’s been driving me crazy. It must be possible but I always seem to end up with one line I can’t get to. Try it for yourself.

Poker Evenings

27/04/2008

Twice now we have had poker evenings. I’d never really seen the attraction of the game itself before, but these evenings have been great fun! We’re only playing for a small buy in of £5, and I’ve not won anything back yet. But it’s cheaper than a night out on the town, and is far more fun.

The Nature of Entropy

26/04/2008

Entropy is at once both truely awe-inspiring to contemplate and downright depressing. The idea that everything will eventually burn out and leave an endless empty nothingness for ever more is pretty depressing, but the thought that all this energy came from somewhere to begin with is a faint glimmer of hope.

Asimov’s short story The Last Question is well worth taking 5 minutes to stop and read.

Fresh Human of Teegeeack

24/01/2008

Thanks to Drarok for this one. (Sung to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme tune)

Now this is the religion all about how
Some aliens got flipped turned upside down.
So hook up an E-meter and sit right there
I’ll tell you how you became a human Preclear.

On the planet Nostra born and raised
Mining Vespene gas is how I spent most of my days
Being overpopulated and relaxin’ all cool and
all playing some Thetan ball outside Scientology school.
When a couple of Psychiatrists who were up to no good
started freezing brothers in my neighborhood

I got in one little volcano and my Overlord Got scared
and said "your moving with the homospaiens on Teegeeack
that planet with air"

So I Whistled for a DC8 and when it came near
It had no propellers just rockets in the rear
If anything I could say the in-flight brainwashing movie was rare
but I thought "nah forget it", Then they put me in a box using some Ghostbusters gear

I pulled up to the planet about 7 or 8 million years ago
And yelled to Xenu "Yo ho, Imprison you later"
I looked at my thetans, we were finally there
To haunt us some primates with little body hair.

PlayStation 3 Password Cracking

10/12/2007

It seems the PlayStation 3’s Cell processor really is starting to come into its own. Not as a gaming CPU but rather in all sorts of high usage applications such as Folding and Cryptography.  The processor apparently gives performance up to 100 times that of standard PC CPUs, not surprising really when you consider that the Cell was originally destined to be doing the graphics for the PS3 and other GPU based systems seem to be VERY good at this sort of thing too.

Facebook App Spam Remover

13/11/2007

Recently Facebook has started adding notifications about your friends using applications to your news feed. This can clutter it up with 500 people biting each others with the Vampire application, or dozens of notices about people taking some random quiz. To make matters worse, these notifications take up a fair bit of space, with a big picture next to each entry.

This simple Greasemonkey script transparently removes these notifications from your news feed, as well as the sponsored news feed entry adverts.

Note this also works in Opera.

Visit the Facebook App Spam Remover Page to download it now!
